Jewelry Frames

I HAVE EXPRESSED HERE THAT I HAVE A PROBLEM
WITH MY JEWELRY MOUNTING UP ON THE COUNTER.

ERNIE GOT ME A NECKLACE HOLDER FOR X-MAS BUT
I HAVE SO MANY THINGS THAT IT JUST ISN'T ENOUGH
SPACE FOR IT ALL, AND I HATE HAVING MOST OF MY
JEWELRY IN A HUGE JEWELRY BOX IN MY BEDROOM.

OUTTA SIGHT, OUTTA MIND!  I FORGET ABOUT THINGS.

SO THIS IDEA HAS BEEN POSTED BY MANY PEOPLE,
BUT I SAW IT ON MR. KATE HERE.  I THOUGHT I'D
TRY IT OUT FOR MYSELF- MAKING JEWELRY
HOLDERS OUT OF COLORFUL FRAMES.

I WANTED THEM TO MATCH THE MIRRORS THAT
I GOT FROM KATHY SINCE I THOUGHT THAT A FRAME
COLLAGE ON THE WALL WOULD BE APPROPRIATE.
(SEE MR. KATE'S "CLUSTER F" TUTORIAL HERE WHICH
GIVES TIPS ON GROUPING FRAMES ON A WALL.)

THEY NEEDED TO BE REALLY STURDY SO TWO
OF THEM HAVE WOOD BACKINGS TO THEM.

HERE I AM THROWING OUT IDEAS FOR EACH OF THEM.
I PAINTED THEM ALL TO MATCH THE MIRRORS AND THEN
ASSIGNED THEM ALL PURPOSES.  THE MESH BEHIND THE
PURPLE FRAME IS INTENDED FOR EARRINGS.  BEHIND THE
YELLOW FRAME IS CORK FOR PINS (OR THUMBTACKS TO
HANG THINGS ON.)  I PUT PURPLE CRUSHED VELVET BEHIND
THE SILVER FRAME TO GIVE IT A MORE LUXURIOUS FEEL
OVER THE COARSE WOOD BACKGROUND.  THE ZEBRA FABRIC IS
AN OLD CLOTH NAPKIN OF MEADOW'S.  I DIDN'T END UP USING
THE LACE IN THE END.  INSTEAD I PAINTED THE WOOD RED.

I USED NAILS TO CREATE THINGS TO HANG NECKLACES
OR BRACELETS OFF OF.  THEY WERE SUPER SHARP THOUGH
SO I PUT THESE ROUND CLEAR FACETED BEADS ON TOP.

TA-DA!

THE BACK- I RIGGED A GHETTO HANG
STRING ON EACH OF THESE.

THESE TINY NAILS WERE THE ONLY THING THAT
WORKED FOR NAILING WOOD TO THE BACK OF THE
FRAMES- BIGGER ONES SPLIT IT.  AWW, SO CUTE!

THE ZEBRA STRIPPED CORK BOARD.

MY INTENTION IS TO PUT PENDANTS THAT I ROTATE
ON A CHAIN IN LITTLE CLEAR BAGS (USING THUMBTACKS)
SO THAT I CAN SEE ALL OF MY OPTIONS.  PINS CAN ALSO
BE STUCK RIGHT INTO THE CORK BACKING.

I USED A STAPLE GUN TO ADHERE THE CORK.
(I ALREADY HAD A SHEET OF CORK FROM WHEN
I WAS MAKING A LOT OF COASTERS.)

I PUT HOOKS INTO THE WOOD BOARD BEHIND THIS
FRAME.  THEY STUCK OUT THROUGH THE BACK BUT
DAD HELPED ME CUT THEM DOWN MORE FLUSH.

I ADDED FELT TO KEEP THE POKEYS FROM
HURTING THE WALL.  YOU CAN KIND OF SEE
WHERE THEY ARE MAKING IMPRESSIONS.

BLACK MESH-
THIS WAS THE ONLY FRAME WHERE I ENDED
UP KEEPING THE ORIGINAL BACKING
(BECAUSE I COULD).

THE FIRST STEP TO DOING A FRAME COLLAGE
ON THE WALL IS TO LAY IT OUT HOW YOU WANT
IT ON THE FLOOR FIRST TO AVOID TOO MANY HOLES.

I ENDED UP HAVING LESS WALL SPACE TO WORK
WITH THAN I WANTED SO I THINK ONCE WE MOVE
OUT OF THIS APARTMENT IT WILL END UP LOOKING
BETTER.  BUT THIS WILL DO FOR NOW!

I COULDN'T FIND ANY CLEAR BAGS SO I WILL
HAVE TO GET SOME.  BUT I DID PUT MY PINS UP!

EARRINGS!  GEEZ, HAVE SOME RED HEART
EARRINGS THERE PERLANA!  I THINK I KNOW
WHAT I AM NOT ALLOWED TO GET ANYMORE OF!

I USED THIS FRAME OF HOOKS FOR MY RINGS.

AND WHILE I ORIGINALLY THOUGHT I WOULD USE
THIS ONE FOR NECKLACES, I DID BRACELETS INSTEAD.

I THINK THE NECKLACES WILL STAY ON THE OWL
HOLDER FOR NOW.  I RAN OUT OF ROOM ON THE FRAMES.

SO THIS IS WHAT THE END RESULT LOOKS LIKE!
IT IS STILL A WORK IN PROGRESS AS I DECIDE
WHICH PIECES GET PRIME REAL ESTATE ON THE WALL
BUT I THINK EVENTUALLY I WILL END UP ADDING
MORE FRAMES TO IT.  I AM IN LOVE!
